Coaching Approach

Our approach is based on the Core Competencies outlined by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

The coach creates a safe environment for coaching that acknowledges and respects the client’s existing strengths and experience in a relationship which is completely confidential.  At all times, the coach operates within the ICF Code of Ethics. Coaching sessions may be in person or by telephone, as mutually agreed to between coach and client.

Through dialogue with the coach, and with the potential use of assessment tools, the client develops awareness and clarity around their goals, their challenges, and their path forward.

That awareness drives personal commitment and individual responsibility for both the desired outcomes and the actions which will produce them.

The coach and client work together to lay out an appropriate plan of action.

The client begins to implement the plan, and observes the outcomes.  The coach provides support and assistance as appropriate.

The coach helps the client hold themselves accountable to the plan and to the outcomes and to learn through reflective evaluation of actual activities and results against the plan.  This step drives the learning about what is working and what is not, and how to adapt the plan going forward for greater success.

Those new understandings drive the next round of discussion, clarity, planning, action and reflection. The process continues until the client achieves their goals.
